SEO

SEO for a coast where every town searches for itself.

Nobody types "South Coast". They type the town they are standing in, and Google answers with whoever is nearest. That is the problem, and it is a solvable one.

How search works here

Proximity decides it, and proximity is not on your side.

Local search is weighted hard by where the person searching is standing. On the South Coast that is brutal, because the towns are small and far apart. Someone in Mollymook searching for a tradesperson gets whoever is closest first, and if your workshop is twenty five minutes north you may not appear at all, even though you service Mollymook every week and would happily drive there tomorrow.

You cannot move your workshop. What you can do is give Google the evidence that you work in that town: pages that say so with real detail, business details that match everywhere they appear, reviews from customers in the places you actually go, and content written for the towns rather than for the region. Done properly it works. Done as ten near-identical town pages it does the opposite, and we will not build those.

What we actually change

Three layers, in this order, because the order is the whole thing.

01

Foundations

Google Business Profile verified and complete, business details identical everywhere they appear online, the site fast, crawlable and actually indexed. Most local ranking problems are solved and finished right here, and a lot of monthly retainers are sold to businesses that only needed this.

02

Then the pages

One page per service with a clear target search, written honestly, linked sensibly. Town pages only where the demand genuinely justifies one, built one at a time with real local substance in each.

03

Then the slow half

Reviews arriving steadily rather than in bursts, content that answers the questions your customers actually ask, and monthly checks on what moved and why, in plain English you can query line by line.

Straight talk

Two things a cold caller will not tell you.

Some businesses do not need a monthly retainer.
If your market is one town and two competitors, you may need your profile fixed and six pages rewritten once, and then nothing for a year. When that is you, we will say so and charge for the work rather than the subscription.
We only take on SEO for sites we build or host.
Optimising a site we cannot properly access or vouch for spends your money on foundations nobody can see. If your site was built elsewhere we start with an audit and an honest conversation, not an invoice.
Before you ring

Local search, without the jargon.

The questions that come up once somebody has been told they need SEO and is not sure they believe it.

Should we target our town or the whole South Coast?

Both, on different pages, and in that order. The town terms convert better because there is less competition and the searcher is closer to buying. The regional terms carry more volume and take longer. Doing the regional one first is the most common mistake we see.

Why is my competitor in the map and I am not?

Almost always some combination of an unverified or half-finished Google Business Profile, business details that do not match across the web, and fewer reviews. All three are fixable, and the map results move a lot faster than the ordinary results underneath them.

We are between two towns. Which one do we chase?

The one your customers come from, which is often not the closer one. We look at where your existing enquiries actually originate before deciding, because the answer surprises people about a third of the time.

How much do Google reviews actually count?

For the map results and for the humans reading them, yes. A steady trickle of genuine reviews beats ten in one week, which looks exactly like what it is. We set up a simple routine your team can run without feeling awkward about asking.

What does SEO cost?

It depends on how competitive your market is, and the honest range is wide. A single-town trade and a region-wide accommodation business are different jobs at different prices. We will show you which one you are, with the actual search data, before you commit to anything.

The rest of the list

The other seven, and why one supplier holds all of them.

The rest of what we look after, on the same number and the same invoice.
